The visitor who is willing to discover the surrounding area has plenty of options and activities. Stunning beaches stretching to the southern side of the county, from the beach "St. Paul" with the dune, the "Triopetra", the "Ligres" the beach "Preveli" with the lake, the river and the palm trees, the beach "Schinaria" and "Amoudi" with crystal clear waters, the cosmopolitan beach of "Plakias", the tranquil beaches of "Korakas" and "Peristere" in Rodakino, the "Psili Ammos" near Frangokastello and many more.
A visit to the historic "Monastery of Preveli" and a walk in the gorges of the region (Gorge Kotsyfou, Kourtaliotis Gorge) even a drive, for non-walkers will reward you. The mysterious castle (ask the locals about the history) of "Frangokastello" is also nearby and easily accessible if you're lucky you may get to see some concert which takes place within it.
